Harris Pitt Tucker (Harry) Obituary

Knoxville, TN - Harris (Harry) Pitt Tucker, age 88, of Farragut, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 from complications of Parkinson's disease.

The fifth of eight children, Harry was born in Ashland City, TN to Ruse Anthony Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Tucker.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1960, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. His accounting career with ALCOA led him and his family to live in Maryville TN, Palestine TX, Madison CT, Pittsburgh PA, and Suriname, South America. After several good retirement years in Louisville, KY, he and his wife Sue returned to their beloved East Tennessee.

A 15-year member of Concord United Methodist Church in Farragut, Harry was a key player in developing the Concord UMC Community Garden and was honored to receive the Knox County Master Gardener's Virginia Raskin award in 2021 for that work.

Harry loved the outdoors and passed this love on to his daughters and grandchildren. Throughout his life, he enjoyed visiting the Smoky Mountains, boating, fishing, gardening, and landscaping. He loved animals and cared for many beloved family dogs over the years. He met and charmed innumerable other dogs during several post-retirement years in which he and Sue owned an Invisible Fence franchise in Louisville.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother John Tucker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sue Claiborne Tucker; daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Rodney Walther (Sugar Land, TX) and Karen and David Gillum (Loudon, TN); grandchildren Lisa Sublett and husband Lance, Deborah Gillum and husband Nate, Brian Walther and wife Lisa; and great-grandchildren Elliott Sublett, Zachary Walther, Hannah Walther, and Eleanor Wakefield; brothers Preston and wife Dorothy Tucker, Ruse A.
